RM of Gimli Public message: COVID-19 - April 22, 2021

It has been a long year and the ongoing COVID-19 crisis has brought unprecedented changes to all of our lives. Our entire community has had to change its way of living, working, collaborating and learning.  It is easy for distractions, criticism and stress to creep in.  Each of us are weary of lockdowns, limited access to others and ever changing rules.  It is critical now more than ever that we stay focused and keep fighting this pandemic and the challenges associated with it.  We have come so far in our fight; we must stay the course and understand nothing is more important than ensuring the health and safety of our families, and our community.

We would like thank the Evergreen School Division for moving to distance learning until April 30th.  We appreciate what a huge challenge this has been for our students and their parents but it’s necessary at this time to flatten the curve.  It’s vigilance like this that will help keep you safe.

Amid all the challenges there continues to be hope being brought by vaccinations that are taking place in Gimli and throughout Manitoba.  It’s encouraging that each day more of us are able to get vaccinated taking us a step closer to returning to our normal lives.  We will get there, so we encourage you to stay on track and continue to follow the Provincial health protocols.   During these difficult times we must all continue to be good neighbors by helping each other where we can and doing what we must to continue protecting each other.

Right now the best way to do that is by following these steps:
Practice physical distancing.
Limit your access to people outside your household
Avoid contact with people who are sick.
Stay home when you are sick.
Wear a face mask
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
Get vaccinated when eligible

These important measures will prevent you from getting sick and from spreading COVID-19.

For more information on the COVID 19 vaccine please see the Province of Manitoba website at https://www.gov.mb.ca/covid19/vaccine/eligibility-criteria.html  or call 1-844-626-8222 if you do not have computer access.

Thank you for your support as we work together to keep our community safe, we are in this together.
